UPDATED AS FOUND - Seeking information on the whereabouts of a missing woman known as Goddaughter.

Updated: Apr 4, 2023

URGENT: Seeking information on the whereabouts of a missing woman known as Goddaughter. Goddaughter has a slight build and dark complexion. Approximately 5’4”-5’7” tall and 110 lbs

Goddaughter suffers from mental illness and is non-verbal except speaking in riddles. She has been staying in MacArthur Park at least a year and her makeshift homes are always creatively made. She is part of the local “family” and is missed by many. We are asking the public’s help in identifying “Goddaughter” in the hopes that we can ensure she is provided with the care she deserves as a human being.

She was seen last weekend in MacArthur Park in Long Beach, CA. We know that Goddaughter’s home also went missing and suspect that she has been picked up however with it being a week since her disappearance and we are growing concerned that she has not returned. This “sweep” of her home was abnormally thorough and not a trace of life was left. We are looking for any information on her legal name and how we can advocate for her safety and proper support if and while navigating the system.

If you have any information or have seen her, please contact us immediately. Your help could make all the difference in finding her and getting her the care she needs. Please share this post widely to help us locate Goddaughter and bring her to safety.

Sadly this is not the first case of “people snatching” nonverbal people of color. Project Dignity has seen in MacArthur Park. Last year “Happy” as he was known was a tall black man who was known to be non-verbal and who ate from trash cans and slept on curbs between cars disappeared around February 2022, after the Homeless Count.

According to a 2020 report from the FBI, there were 230,034 missing persons cases in the U.S. Of those cases, 53.2% involved Black individuals, even though they make up only 13.4% of the population. Additionally, the Black and Missing Foundation, a non-profit organization that brings awareness to missing persons of color reports that black women and girls make up 7% of the U.S. population but account for 35% of all missing people.

Please help us change this and locate our friends Happy and Goddaughter.
